To carry out the researches on field disinfection technology, guidance and disinfection effect assessment of infectious diseases, natural disasters and other public health events as well as sanitary guarantee for major activities, to implement the hospital disinfection, HOI (hospital onset of infection) control and surveillance, as well as research, guidance and intervention effect evaluation of technologies associated with infection control, to launch the research, guidance and effect evaluation of personal protection techniques for infectious diseases , to conduct the research and evaluation of new disinfection technologies and disinfection products and to organize the formulation and revision of disinfection sanitary standards and testing method standards.

Approved in 2005, the nationwide hospital disinfection and infection control surveillance network has currently covered 48 hospitals in 15 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, providing a large number of basic data for the formulation and revision of policies and regulations related to hospital disinfection and infection control of the country.
